They are heatsinks, but not for the cpu. they are for the voltage regulators to the cpu. See firingsquad.com

Guys,

I don't know if this has been answered or not, but that white thingy in that picture is a heat sink on the voltage regs, NOT the cpu.. you will notice there are about 8 voltage regs on that board..
