Owww!!!

Have you read carefully??

Just look at the ownership of Amazon.com, one of the premier Net stocks. At the end of March, 1998, mutual funds owned 2,562,000 shares of Amazon, according to mutual-fund research firm Morningstar. By the end of March, 1999, mutual funds owned 4.5 million shares of Amazon, an increase of 75%.

If it was not true, it is good invented. Don't forget, AMZN split twice in that time, 1:6 So, split-adjusted, the share of AMZN held by mutuals actually dropped.

So the 2.562M from March 1998 would translate into split adjusted 15.4 Millions, so the 4.5 Millions from March 1999 actually reflect a decline of 70% rather than an increase.
