Goldsnow,

We have to be "hung-up" on Milo. He's the obstacle to peace.

The average Serb would rather just get on with life and not have the @sshole politicians dragging them into situations they don't want to be involved in.

I'll guarantee you that Milo's concern over Kosovo was not dictated by some altruistic concern on his part about the future of the Serbian economy. No, it was about preserving his base of power built upon driving out the Kosovars and Serbianizing that region to fulfill some political ambition.

So as a result of his political intransigence he has dragged the common Serbian through economic and military HELL. A hell of HIS MAKING.

Milo being ousted would absolutely assist resolving the problem since Milo is holding out on withdrawing his forces and permitting a peace-keeping force. A change of gov't would quite likely initiate a change in this policy and would permit Kosovars to return to their villages. Then we have to worry about how to house them and rebuild their economy.

The Serbs have EVERYTHING TO GAIN by capitulating on the Kosovo issue. We're not going to permit independence while we have troops deployed there. Kosovo will become a NATO/UN protectorate keeping ALL sides from getting at each other's throats. The economic reconstruction programs will be a HUGE boost to all of the economies of the region. These are countries who have largely been ignored in the new European structure and deserve to be able to participate should they choose (and they will because who else will they sell their products to??)

Regards,

Ron
