, we have a little inconvenience for you being more important than a dead end for me, and I suspect a lot of others as well.

Or visa-versa, since one can easily look at the messages posted recently in relavant threads.

But there might be a solution that forms a kind of cul de sac of the two dead-ends: to post messages by default with the 15-minute edit window, but to allow those who wish to have their message added to the index immediately to select an option (similar to "Use Fixed Font") that will do that. There would still be some delayed indexing of messages, but those who want their words indexed immediately would be able to make that happen. [ahem... I reconsidered a snide comment in the last sentence, and took it out a few minutes later. One of the wonderful things about the editing feature.]

You are the first person I have ever seen in two years on SI that mentioned an interest in real time post searches.

It seems more efficient to find a few threads you like and monitor those for real time picks. Trying to follow the entire universe is bound to be pretty distracting.

Another reason to have the Edit function - you can go back and point out when you grub a post like #300!
