Rich......

Don't know if I agree with the specific content of Dave's post, but I do agree with the "spirit" of the post.

Threads may make you aware of a company, but they certainly aren't a place to gather information about a company.

Plus SI has degraded significantly.

Companies seem to be either "hyped" or "pumped" or dumped upon.

A price spike, accompanied by ballyhooed statements about a company going to the moon, is followed by a "bash attack" ...

There seems to be very little objective discourse or even the desire on these threads to be objective and rational when discussing a company....Either a company is the next "big thing" or a "scam"....

Much of the "pumping" is ungrounded enthusiasm, much of the "bashing" is spite and an almost churlish vindictiveness....Yet all the people who came to these threads just to find undiscovered or up and coming companies (or just to get info) are subjected to manipulation both for and against.

These threads only now seem to be vehicles for coordinated pumps and dumps...Many miss the pump and languish after the dump...hoping to recover their losses. These threads have done a tremendous disservice to "investing"....A partial , albeit unpopular, solution would be to raise short term capital gains to dissuade trading and encourage investing. Maybe this would make people learn a little bit more about what they are investing in before their money is locked up for a while without having to incur a significant penalty...ie tax rate of 60% held on equities held under 30 days.....

Now I find it very interesting that whenever I've gone to threads and made posts trying to provoke conversation ABOUT a company, these posts seldom get any reaction.

Now this thread has no desire to discuss how this company is generating revenues, how its going to implement its business plan, or just about anything other than whether or not Marty is going to be put on the Board of Directors.

Personally to me, this is a non-issue. But even the basher probably screwed by Piercy seeking vengeance, has made this non-issue a subject of a lengthy post. This same poster who won't even talk to Marty on a phone.

What a joke.....

Some one really needs to start another investment community accessible only to participants (sorry no lurkers)
where there are NO aliases and people fill out a profile
with verified information. Lurkers wouldn't be allowed
because submitted info of members would only be partially accessible to other members for security reasons.......Verification would include employment history, so no shills or paid bashers could hide behind anonymity...

Anyway....

as I sign off with my
alias.."ztect"...

I'll let my genuine disgust be tinged with irony...
