October..true but October is also the 'biggest' of the four earnings seasons, so you have to take that into consideration as well. I'm taking less home with me lately, but the good part is that the intraday or overnight trades are so profitable I don't miss taking them home. I used to make 2- 2 1/2 points off a trade in 1-3 days now you can get 5 times that so I'd rather get only 2-3 times that without the aggravation. I currently do not own any tech stocks, lightened up on the telecom stocks just a week ago, and am now wondering if I even want to hold the retailers. I just started 3 money market accounts, I don't like mutual funds, and I'm thinking cash/trading seems the safest way to go for a while and maybe a long term portfolio is not such a good idea until next year. I have pretty strict discipline on how much money I allow myself to trade no matter how much comes in and of course I never use margin. I still have some short term holds in med/biotech stocks (not the PFE's or MRK's)..
