Paul, I notice that Dell's Xeon system is now within less than 7% of the top of the line Alpha 21264 in baseline SPECint95. With the intro of the Coppermine @600MHz+ Intel could (with the exception of HP)truly be the one with the "fastest processor in the universe" despite the claims of the imitators.

re :I don't recall seeing Intel 550 MHz Pentium ///s that "require some unorthodox (and expensive) hardware."

I don't recall intel having anywhere near a 200 MHz bus.
OR did I miss out somewhere ? oh wait, they DELAYED the 133 MHz thingie..right..133...now some "low-end scum" like VIA will make up
the delay of the 133 bus by themself...poor intel. Falling all behind.....

Anyways, some good cooling on the voltage regulators for increased stability is everything but a luxery with a 200 MHz bus.

kiss and makeup, michael.
