Paul, What did Carver Mead have to do with the

birth of Intel? Try these. Mead holds the Gordon Moore chair in Comp. Sci. at Cal tech. Why?

In the 50's, he invented key technologies like the Gallium Arsenide transistor.

In 1968, he postulated Mead's law: As chips get smaller, they get faster, cheaper, cooler, and better. At that time, the exact opposite was the prevailing view.

I'd say this is the father of Moore's law, well ahead of his time.
