<<Now for you:Of the XAU, how many are hedging, and what portion are CDN? Does the foreign producers hedging make a difference to price preformance?>>
ABX :Barrick Gold Corp. - deeply Forward sold on borrowed gold with puts, calls, & currency hedges
(ten years of production to 50% of total reserves)(cdn company)
BMG :Battle Mountain Gold - around 20% production forward sold tru 2003-4 Cdn, US, & other production
HM :Homestake Mining - around 10% of production forward sold through 2002 lesser amounts through 2004(they do have some Cdn production)
NEM :Newmont Mining - no forward sales(though they do have some Cdn. production)
PDG :Placer Dome Inc (Cdn company) - can't find it at their web site, don't hold it.

Currently the hedging has made all the difference between profit & loss. There are also many ways to hedge, puts/calls, currency hedges,
forward sales(from bank loans & inventory positions).

<<"Hutch, do you have a list of S&P 500 member companies?">>
Reason I asked this, was somewhat retorical. Wanted everyone to understand the very low number of Americans which can invest any of their IRA monies in anything precious metals related.

On Fox I heard the average number of investment options inside workplace 401k's is only five. The #1 type of investment vehicle offered at the greatest number of workplaces is the S & P index fund. Followed by a bond fund, a growth fund, and international fund, and an income based fund.
