Here are some choice quotes from that Sharky article:

Slightly. . . as in > 11%

At 175MHz:

we found that any looped benchmark (particularly the Quake2 Crusher demo) would cause the Viper to lock up the system if the benchmark was sustained for medium to long periods of time

What do we mean by "medium to long"?

Anything above 40 minutes.


A veritable eternity in the realm of Windows stability!

Incredibly Sharky published benchmarks for 175MHz, even though he had just stated the card locked up the system after 40 minutes!

Now it gets really disgusting:

After the elation of our initial experiences with the 170MHz prototype ViperV770 back in March, and our incomprehension and resentment at the decision by Diamond to limit the card to 150MHz in April

They resent Diamond for not shipping a card that won't work!?!

He can't "comprehend" why Diamond made this decision!?!
