john...re: tech ceo's

do you think the days of a "technologist" leading a "technical" corporation as significant as they were years ago...or is more value placed on a "turn around" type as gerstner, armstrong, et al?
i'm watching cpq decision....or lack of same.....not sure if market today is as enamored with "techie" types as much as performance to the bottom line types....comments appreciated..tia, ed

John, re:<< Part of that was probably due to the fact that many at the time were looking for a leading 'technologist' to get the IBM job. >> Agree with you 100%. Did Gerstner come from a food/cereal company?

Re:<<As for the Dell meeting, I don't think Mikey will be putting up the stock chart and using his 'meeting closed' line this year <gggg>.>> I seriously doubt that he will do anything as silly as that. <ggg> Are you going to the meeting? If yes, you might want to submit some questions in writing to Michael's office and ask him to address the questions at the meeting. I doubt that he will do so, but one never knows.
