Sorry! I did not intend to trash AMAT rather my question had to do with the difference between capital goods and materials. Capital goods are affected by the accelerator whereas the demand for materials depends on the rate of production of the final product.

When chip production increases along with falling prices the demand for capital goods may be dampened but the market for materials goes along with the increasing output of chips.

As for trashing, I believe the Yahoos on the Yahoo
threads think that stocks go up and down in response to cheering and booing. I hold some AMAT and do not think my question poses a threat to the future of the stock, and that the SI thread ws a safe place to ask a question, and I'm still waiting for an answer
