The Star Wars movies, while enjoyable, have a "humanity deficit". The first is plotted for a climax every 15 or 20 minutes, for example. The second was big on plot twists and cliff- hangers. Then we come to the third... Okay, tribal teddies may seem a bit silly, but there was more room for human interaction on the part of the principals, and were the bears any more sentimental than Yoda? At least they had no pretensions to wisdom...There was finally a more leisurely pace, and the opportunity to develop dramatic scenes without constantly having to move to a "pay off", or be drowned in special effects...
