Looks like the currency crisis is in Europe. Everyone was looking for a currency crisis in China, HK, SA, et al in submerged markets. They're now in recession and facing funding of Clinton 'Marshall' Plan whenever Kosovo is resolved in addition to budget deficits larger than expected. Also, makes it difficult to manage local economies with a common currency and central bank.

Judging from the steady stream of articles positive about higher interest rates in the NY Times. Looks like the Fed is interested in jawboning interest rates higher and stocks lower.

jjsirius, a crack in the NATO alliance becomes ever more probable the longer this war goes on. let's not forget that the head of the italian government is a communist and the greeks are orthodox christians, same as the serbs. needless to say, this would be very bad news.

regards,

hb

*OT* JJSIRIUS

Far too many are fooling themselves in believing that there was ever an alliance in the first place. The great majority of inhabitants of Europe despise Slobodan Milosevic as much as they do NATO.

The only true pals President Clinton has in Europe is Tony Blair and former anti NATO street demonstrator and now Secretary General Mr Solana. And of course the minor light and babbler Mr.Shea. The rest are habitual YES BOSS MEN and much too afraid to say no to the world leader. And not to forget the corrupt with their passion to grab. Whine about humanity while shifting blame and pain away from their hallways of deceit and thievery.

Therefore Italian Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini must be lauded.

He and everyone else not putting his shoes on with a screwdriver has seen through the humanitarian smoke bomb a long time ago.

The rest is slowly being alerted by some courageous TV personalities possibly jeopardizing their careers by asking needling questions to those hiding in Mrs.Albrights foreign policy bag.

Like tonight our Foreign Minister Mr.Fisher who was asked on German
Television ZDF in reference to the Slobodan Milosevic crimes against humanity arrest warrant.

" Is it not very irritating that just on the eve of the departure of the Russian Envoy to Belgrade " who" according to our top leaders was just a few days ago essential to a diplomatic settlement, the U.N. war crimes tribunal plays this fresh tune. Pulling in fact the carpet underneath the envoy's feet.

" This looks to me " the TV personality said......NATO is not interested at all in a diplomatic settlement?."

Cought he was our foreign minister Mr.Fisher! A Green. But green behind the ears he is as well and so was his ga ga answer which should have initiated some thinking process for some..

If this madness is allowed to continue and the Russian card is played in such foolish and provoking ways for much longer I am afraid I have to evacuate and seek higher grounds.

However there will be none. Neither will be there any room for " I am sorry " or " have a nice day ". We all be dead or near to it. So it is useless to add "mark my words".

Besides those political misfits and little Nero's are screwing up my forecasts. No neural network can cope with New Age Folly following blind the blenders and bone bleachers of present times.

Regards,

ED
