Darrell, one thing that I found out during my career in the tech industry is that the only "constant" is "change". For all we know, a new CEO might decide to once again open up talks with Gtw for the purpose of a merger. I don't know a thing about this, but who knows what tomorrow will bring. When Armstrong took over AT&T, he had to take the company apart and rebuild it in order to compete in today's world. Going back a few years ago, who would have thought that AT&T would be a major player in the cable TV industry.

Cpq remains a major threat to Dell, and the other box makers.

Darrell -
Remember that Dell offers onsite repair and service - Resellers don't (90% of them).
As I mentioned before, DELL built this capability using DEC Multi-vendor services, now CPQ services. CPQ currently has a better service capability than DELL. True there is some dislocation with resellers over the service issue but from a customer standpoint service is good and certainly complete.

BTW DELL is still better in customer satisfaction over service, despite changing service partners.
