CustomTracks Corporation Initiates Lawsuit
DALLAS, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- CustomTracks Corporation (Nasdaq: CUST - news) announced today that it has filed a lawsuit in federal District Court in San Francisco against Critical Path, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPTH - news), a San Francisco- based provider of email hosting services. The suit alleges violation of a confidentiality agreement between the parties, trade secret misappropriation, and related claims. CustomTracks is initially seeking a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction to enjoin Critical Path from using CustomTracks' confidential information.
David P. Cook, chairman and chief executive officer of CustomTracks, said, ''The confidential information relates to our Digital Signature and Encryption technology and its related applications. As far as any other information, the lawsuit speaks for itself.''
CustomTracks Corporation is developing an Internet transaction system and a Digital Signature and Encryption system and is exploring additional Internet-related businesses. The company's new Internet transaction system is expected to be operational by the end of September 1999, and the Digital Signature and Encryption system is expected to be released by the end of August 1999. The law suit reveals that whatever CUST is working on, CPTH already has it. CPTH is a partner of VRSN. I wouldn't be surprised to see a counter suit from CPTH.
