So it's Clinton's fault, huh? I thought it was just me. Spent the last ten days at the lake house fishing and the pickings were mighty slim. Only the channel cats were biting. The one bright spot was my son, 12 years old. After being raised in England, he just moved to the U.S. with his mom. I have him with me for most of the summer and I'm tickled to death that his favorite thing to do is fish. I had already accustomed him to catch and release, explaining that we only keep what we plan to eat. He had been fishing by himself from the dock when he came up to the house to ask if bass were good to eat. I told him that I really didn't care for them, so he said he would go down and release it. (it was in a basket creel, tied to the dock) I asked him how big it was and he said it was "pretty nice", but as it was the first largemouth bass he had ever caught, he didn't really know how to rate it. I went down to the dock and when he pulled the creel up, I almost had a fit. It was larger than any bass I had ever caught. I told him it was a keeper and seeing it was his first bass, we would have it mounted. We put it in a cooler and took it to the local bait and tackle shop where we had it weighed. At 12 lbs., 9oz., it is the third largest largemouth taken in Georgia this year. The folks at the tackle shop called the local newspaper and they put my son's photo on the front page of the Elberton, Ga. Gazette. They were real tickled at his English accent and mentioned in the article that his father (me) had to act as an interpreter, because my son had just as hard a time understanding the reporter's thick Georgia accent as the reporter had understanding his East Anglian brogue. You should hear him explain how everyone in England says that Clinton is "a Wanker and a right Wally". I couldn't have said it better myself.
