Hutch - I'm not being smart arguing the opposite of you - merely right! Right in the sense that you made an assertion which was dubious and in fact it could be argued was the opposite of what was true. One can't of course prove that the sales of gold hurt the $Can over the many years - but it seems to me it was too much of a co-incidence,that the dollar has sunk. At one time the Canadian Govt. made a big thing of promoting the sale of Maple Leaf coins - supposedly from production of Canadian gold mines - at the same time they started selling their gold reserves!! It always seemed to me passing strange that a country to whom mining was important should undermine a basic industry. d
