i think we should check the "pc2000" or so specification
from intel and microsoft (the biggest tamagotchi producer in the world)
every year or so, they update the specs.

JJB,

I am not aware of the application that you mentioned, but this is not an area of the market that I scan.

I am interested if any thread members are aware of design-ins for SanDisk products relating to handheld inventory and P.O.S. (point of sale) devices such as those manufactured by Symbol, Telxon, Intermec, PSC, and the like. There is a shift toward a rugged Windows CE operating system and elimination of a hard drive. Many of the newer designs for these handheld devices and tablet computers include PCMCIA and CF expansion slots in addition to on-board flash RAM. I believe that there was a SNDK press release mentioning an Intermec design in recently.

These are vertical markets where the mass appeal and mass demand is curtailed somewhat by corporate spending. However, I believe that some of the companies mentioned will stake new claims in previously unexplored markets like health care where information technology is still decades behind. This could be a nice niche area for SanDisk.
