Has anyone given consideration that Apple will most likely introduce the imac notebook at Macworld in NYC (July 21-24). This new powerbook supposedly has excellent battery life. This could be one notebook that could easily sell over 750,000 if it is successful as the imac desktop..... Apple is very good at keeping secrets until they open the curtain, and they flow the same requirement down to their suppliers !

Zeev,

I must admit I don't remember too many details about that $100 million contract with MOT way back when, but I thought it was for cell phone units. Was it a blanket order covering more than one year? Can anyone bring us up to date here?

I believe that both of the high-speed assembly lines are now set up to produce cell phone batteries, in which case the annual capacity should be considerably higher than it was in those Motorola days. Motorola could conceivably come through with a big order again (having thoroughly tested the batteries this time), or Valence may sign up more than one customer right from the start, perhaps through one repackager, with the aggregate totalling >$50 million. I think there's a pretty good chance, but of course I'm just guessing at this point.
