I went back and checked the releases from April 21, 1999 and some of the SI posts, because we were LED TO BELIEVE that they had the cash in hand. However, the news release never mentioned cash, some posters interpreted it that way.

There's no other way to interpret it. Nobody bothers to add "in cash" to every dollar figure; it's assumed.
