A corner ? or No lack of bombs You can state the situation as equitably as you wish but the facts remain the same. NATO leaders agreed to take action and some allowance must be made for the intelligence reports that led to that action. I tend to put aside the theory that it is political. It isn't in Canada for sure, rrman's reflections aside. The course NATO has taken has resulted in very few casualties, and has a clear ending, capitulation on the part of those being bombed. I think that may have been the original intent and if it was, no corner ever existed. The end may be near, it may get worse. Milosevic's indictment matters, so do the bombs. You are thinking about the people getting killed, NATO is thinking about the ultimate cost of allowing Milosevic's selective murder campaign to continue. It has nothing to do with history, it bears only upon the recent actions of Milosevic and the Government which yields to his authority, this Government allows the killing of citizens based on ethnic background. NATO, as an entity, probably has a better memory than most of us. The 1.5 million refugees will probably be returning to a new political reality in Kosovo. They will be returning. They will have a lot of work to do. I would guess, Blue helmets everywhere.

I just think the method being used is dumb, and I am not impressed with your suggestions that carpet-bombing Belgrade" Steven, do you realize the B-52's are being used over Serbia, using dumb bombs. If that is not carpet bombing, then what is it! I didn't say to carpet bomb Belgrade! But the only way to dislodge the Serbian froces in Kosovo is to carpet bomb them. Four Serbian army brigade are dug-in and a land war is in process along the Albanian borders! You can't sweet talk them out, and or so called lazer guided weapons doesn't work! Becasue of them, Apache's can't take off! The only way is to bomb them in to submission or else send the ground troops! Now, do you suggest send the ground troops and bring back NATO troops in body-bags, or knock-out Serbians? NATO has backed itself into a corner without solutions.>> Fully agreed. But was the option? NATO is boming Serbia becasue all other attmepts failed, and bullying Serbs didn't work. Solution, we are moving toward a UN protecterate in Kosovo.
