All of the TnT2 chips both Ultra and regular are coming off of the same fab line they are just being bin split. Nivida is just telling the board makers that these chips will run at 150 mhz or higher. Hercules might be able to get them to run at 175 because they have a better PCB design as Sun said or because they have a better fan/heatsink combo on the chip itself. Just because Diamond has a bigger retail presence and strong branding does not mean they have necessarily have a better engineering department. Another point is that Diamond is also shipping these Ultras to some OEM customers and not just retail. Given the fact that they are trying to establish a good relationship and replace STB they might have backed off on trying to push the envelope so much. The last thing they want to do right now is give a new OEM customer a bunch of cards which start locking up. Hercules has no OEM relationships that I know of and they will be shipping alot less volume of cards.
