I do exactly that Hal. I have written on DELL for about 3 expirations so far in the expectation the options clearing corp. would take it. Instead it kept going down but my cost basis is substantially lowered. Now I'm ready to let go at $35 by third friday of next month. Got called out much last Friday just in time. It works well for me. Tom

Thanks for your comments, Hal. I sell covered calls on occasion in my regular accounts but seldom in an IRA. Since there are no immediate tax consequences in an IRA, I'd rather exploit the volatility of high beta equities.

Gee, your investment cost basis in CSCO must be lower than mine! Take care.
