Well you're definitely right on the need for charm school. But respectfully disagree that he had a good point. Tom Dorsey (He posts under the alias James Ball, one of his employees) believes in portfolio diversification. His nut portfolio is part of a speculative portfolio and he stated that he wasn't overleveraged (meaning % of holdings, not margin) and that it was a long term wait and see. He was specifically pointing out that anyone that was overleveraged in the nuts was probably bleeding profusely. I believe that Dorsey was advocating a balanced portfolio as a way to mitigate risk. Speculative positions can be a part of that portfolio.

I have played the nuts in a big way, but you will notice that I also diversify into an equally speculative area that has proved rather disappointing. Which one was I more foolish to play, nuts or gold?
