Re: "When Digital and Intel settled their lawsuit (It may be tough to remember because Intel settles so much! J/K) with Intel buying Digital's stuff, the FTC forced Digital to license Alpha-related stuff to AMD and Samsung. If you want, I can try to find the article that details it so you can substitute actual words in for "stuff".
"

Allow me to help out. In exchange for a cash payment, Intel received DEC's fab and test facility in Hudson Mass, rights (and obligations) to manufacture the Alpha, Dec's product lines manufactured at that plant which included 64bit PCI bridges, engineering staffs related to these product lines, plus and perhaps most important, a license to StrongArm technology and all DECs product line based on those licenses. Ironically Intel paid less than AMD did for their purchase of Nexgen. Intel bought real assets plus profitable product lines while AMD has posted hundreds of $$MILLION$$ in losses following their ill conceived folly. But it was worth it wasn't it? Despite those huge losses they cut back Intel's profits and that's what's it all about so you could say that it was money well spent. Especially if it was your money, certainly not Jerrys.
