here comes the fud. see delay theregister.co.uk i think this reporter just found out that intel announced a 90 day delay in feb and rmbs is being released late 3rd q. then he figured well there won't be much around till 4th q. the latest projections call for rmbs in 5-10% of pc's by the end of the year. i really liked tom's post yesterday that the the ddr camp pessimistic forecast projects rmbs in 55% of pc's in 2001. i will say it again that pc's will be only 1/3 of rmbs revenue stream. the rest will be 15% servers and 50% other uses. unclewest

jbn, RMBS does not have any "equivalent" securities that can be delivered against the short position, so shorting against the block can be only against stock already owned and if the shorter wants to continue and own these, he'll have to go into the market and buy back his shorted shares. Of course, there are hedging operation associated with options, but the total open interest is not large enough to justify 6 MM short position. I think these are real shorts this time and will provide a good cushion to any decline, IMHO. Zeev
