I know most of you don't read French, but i am a bit lazy to translate... but in short, Compaq and ALA decided to pomote together ADSL in Europe. They will startwith UK, Belgium, Sweden, and Italy. France and Germany are "ommitted". No details why... ALCATEL et Compaq vont promouvoir l'ADSL en Europe Alcatel (-0,09 % à 115,40 euros vers 15h40) et Compaq Computer Corporation, deuxième fabricant mondial d'ordinateurs, annoncent le lancement d'une offensive marketing en faveur du déploiement commercial de la technologie et de services ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) auprès des opérateurs et des particuliers en Europe. A partir d'une ligne téléphonique existante, la technique ADSL permet d'accroître le débit jusqu'à 8 Mbit par seconde. Alcatel est le leader mondial de cette technologie. Les deux groupes précisent que les premiers pays concernés par cette offensive seront le Royaume-Uni, la Belgique, l'Italie et la Suède.
