Yes I saw the shelf registration. A profitable AOL's shelf registration should play better than an unprofitable AMZN's 2 billion shelf registration, but yes there might be some dilution. I remember previous actions by AOL were also viewed with some skepticism, but since then AOL has shown its business model to be hyper-growth and profitable. I'm intrigued with the possibilities that this signals for potential AOL acquisitions/alliances. Perhaps the rumored YHOO deal or a broadcasting alliance similar to what GE did with NBC/SNAP/Xoom.com? Stay tuned
