"Which Ones Will Become TV's Gatekeepers" from Thur's. WSJ

TV makers, cable systems, and sat. programming providers are at war over the next big digital land grab, and the battle ground is your tv set.

Each wants to control the first picture you see when you turn on your next generation digital tv. That image is critical turf in tv's long awaited metamorphisis from a boob tube into a gateway to the internet and interavtive services.

" These guides will work only if cable TV companies relay data about times and channels over the cable system. But cable tv companies seem increasingly unlikely to do that. Lusting for their own control over the rev. from interactive TV services, they are backing on screen guides that equipment makers are starting to load into the cable boxes that go on top of TV sets. "

That of course is TV Guide and ACTV is in TV GUIDE Interactive.

Oh Ye aah.
