I liked the idea of e-mailing people at SNDK. They should at least be aware of this thread, and should read it each day (well, maybe they do, but who knows?)

Anyway, for those inclined, these are the bot e-mails from the web site:

Investor Relations
(investor_relations@sandisk.com)

Human Resources
(careers@sandisk.com)

Public Relations
(public_relations@sandisk.com)

Sales
(sales@sandisk.com)

Technical Support
(support@sandisk.com)

Literature Requests
(lit_request@sandisk.com)

Webmaster
(webmaster@sandisk.com)

SanDiskstore.com Customer Service
(customerservice@bigcityexpress.com)

Jason,

A better idea might be to e-mail suggestions rather than to complain. For example, a "Guide for the Use of Removable Memory" could be included in packaging for devices with CF slots which would outline topics such as flash memory architecture (how it is essentially a solid state floppy drive), general use (don't remove the card when it is being written to or read,...), available and projected capacities(and the upcoming CF type II slots), compatibility issues (forward, backward and across platforms), power consumption (dispel misbeliefs about heavy battery drainage. note: Windows CE automatically displays a warning about power consumption once a device is plugged into the CF slot. This message pertains primarily to card modems and the like, not CF per se.), and cost effectiveness.

This would be a handy reference and a great way of introducing CF and MMC to consumers who may have many unanswered questions about CompactFlash cards.

Oh yeah, and make sure the SanDisk and CFA logos are on the front cover. Suggestions for color theme...red&yellow&white.

Jason and Thread,

I had an idea the other day. We rented the movie "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" for the kids the other day and the concept of the "everlasting gobstopper" struck me as fitting for CompactFlash. You know, playing on the theme;

"The last roll of film you'll ever need..."

I wonder what Gene Wilder is upto today and whether he still fits into the old Wonka costume. Also, need to see if "everlasting gobstopper" is trademarked.

Jason,

I had some time to think about your comment this morning.

It is probably safe to assume that some or all of our diatribe is read, filtered and forwarded at SanDisk. I think it would be terribly annoying and self-defeating to start a mass e-mail campaign.

I hate SPAM as much as the next guy and it serves no purpose. Let's let the SanDisk people do their job and not bog them down with e-mail.

Just look at the discussion that Rex sparked here on the thread with his Image Mate post. That is exactly the type of discussion we need here. And best of all it is entertaining!

I had a couple other suggestions for Image Mate...

"FLUXX"

"Fortissimo"

and

"Fusion Drive"

But I am still hoping to see the Jabba Drive on the market by Christmas. Who knows, maybe George Lucas is a shareholder and will give us a free license for it?!? Let's send him an e-mail instead.
