It's becoming clearer that Microsoft must want to dominate data transmission on every wireless system. Nextel is one of the few wireless companies with a nationwide network. Frankly, I can't see a future in this particular system, as it is neither as secure as CDMA nor does it possess much bandwidth per channel, nor does it give as clear a voice signal as CDMA. Nextel started as a nationwide network using paging frequencies previously used only for local paging needs. The bandwidth is so narrow that, if my recollection is correct, you can't even use it full duplex.
