Robert, I think you are correct but it can only offset interest income.. Assuming one in large into margin debt.. I doubt you will have enough interest to offset it all.

CNBC said yesterday to buy Drug stocks because they are down so low.
I bought puts in PFE.

CNBC said interest rates are going up.
I bought calls in FNM.

Just do the opposite of what CNBC says. (I bought these yesterday)

OT: interesting. I had two tell me no unless i had business filing on schedule c. quit both and went with robert greene & co from si thread same name. Will check his tax manual when i gat back home next week.

Only to the extent of gains. Margin interest can't be used as a straight deduction by itself, but can offset recognized capital gains.
