Merced will dissipate lots of power - my guess the MODULE, including L2 cache - will dissipate 85 to 110 watts.

But MERCED is going into SERVERS & Workstations initially - where that power is commonplace - such as 113 watts for the Alpha 21264.

AMD's problem is that they are trying to stuff 50 or 60 watts of Karnage 7 into a desktop machine where costs are critical and MOST PC makers provide little value-added engineering.
