LEG has a quiet open and a HUGE 40 dollar target and positive comments in the latest business week.

NEW YORK, May 27 (Reuters) - The solid record of earnings increases chalked up by Leggett & Platt Inc. (NYSE:LEG - news), maker of things steel and aluminum from upholstery springs to die castings, has made the stock attractive to at least one mutual fund specializing in value investing, Business Week said.

According to the magazine's June 7 issue, Colin Ferenbach and his $80 million mutual fund see Leggett trading at 30 times its estimated 1999 earnings per share of $1.43 in the next year.

Business Week said that would have Leggett shares, which closed Thursday at 25-1/2 on the New York Stock Exchange, trading at $40 or more.
