Cabletron Stock Gains On Takeover Possibility
"If strong sales on the Rochester, N.H.-based company's superfast routers continue, the price could climb to $25, some analysts believe. But others say Cabletron has already lost too much ground to competitors, including Cisco systems, and to survive it may have to give in to a high-priced buyout offer. "It's inevitable at some time Cabletron will be bought," John Armstrong, an analyst at Dataquest in San Jose, Calif., told the Wall Street Journal."
