Thank you for the acronym site!

I agree w/ you about msft. I don't see windows or office going away anytime soon (or those product prices going lower). That's why I am still long the stock. However, it is very interesting that CC (Clayton C.) is predicting that msft will be in trouble in about 5-7 years (he said it on the C. Rose show). I also found it very interesting (distrubing since I am a shareholder) that CC said no one from msft has called him. Clearly CC has insights that could be useful to Gates and company in various product areas. We'll see how java/browsers/networks/handhelds/settops/web-apps develop over the next few years ... wish I could see the future.

About the last mile (cable, dsl, wireless)... a datapoint ... I live in Ca. and I got my DSL (for $49/mo) from PacBell in Jan/99. My DSL connection goes down *a lot* and PacBell's tech support (its network admins) *sucks* *big time*. I am envy of those who have reliable cable modems. I can't wait till TCI offers the service in my area. I bet they (cable and RBOC) all regret not investing more aggressively over the past three years; now everyone sees the monster-Internet (e.g. AT&T is now forcing everyone to move faster).

On another topic ... in my readings, I've found Gilder, Christensen, Buffett, Munger, Bill Miller, very helpful (my interest is mostly focused on investing in public companies). I really like Gilder's insight into semiconductors and networks. I would love to find more writers (of Gilder's quality) in other areas to expand my knowledge. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi, another question: Do you see Cisco getting stronger or weaker? and why? What's coming down the pipe and how will Cisco make out? Why? (and about LU and Tellabs if you have the patience to explain)

I am asking because I have always had a lot of FUD about Cisco's router business. I know the router business is *very* sticky but because I can't "feel" the technology I have always had a lot of FUD about it being sustainable. This FUD has caused me a lot of money over the years (now Cisco is a one-stop shop).

Is the battle going forward Cisco vs. LU, NT, etc... ? as data over take voice, how do you see that play out? why?
