I'd have figured that last song would be strike a chord - I thought it was one of the musical highlights of Woodstock (not that I was there; I had a ride offered but decided to take advantage of my parents' going out of town for the weekend. My friends who went came back and said it was the most miserable couple days they had ever spent). How about this one from a group that also was at Woodstock

And my dear mama left me when I was quite young
(When I was quite young)
And my dear mama left me when I was quite young
(When I was quite young)
She said "Lord have mercy on my wicked son"

Those two songs were both by Richie Havens. The first was "Minstrel from Gault", the second "Handsome Johnny". Kind of funny how 1969 or 1970 (was that around the time that Top 40 pretty much died as the radio format?)seems to be a dividing point for universally shared musical experiences.

The Byrds and the Airplane did fly
Oh, Ravi shankar's music made you cry
The Who exploded into fire and light
Hugh Masakela's music was black as night
