Here are some writings you might find interesting. After the public reading of the Declaration of Independence , the Continental Congress appointed it's first chaplain. A christian, an Anglican minister, by the name of Rev. Jacob Duche. "Resolved, That the Rev. Mr. J. Duche' be appointed chaplain to Congress, and that he be desired to attend every morning at 9 o'clock." America's God and Country reported as coming from the Journals of Congress vol. IV p. 530.
