Thanks, Doc. Just try to apply some common sense.

You can't be a contrarian without keeping score, but that's about all you really have to do.

This six week "correction" has been excruciating because it hasn't been supported by fundamentals, only by the jawboning of Greenspan and the insipid chatter of naive pundits (Fleckenstein excluded!).

There's no material inflation, the dollar's too strong against the yen and the euro, foreign economies are still weak, our trade deficit is out of control, the economy is firm but not overheated, productivity is manifest, the 30-year bond interest rate is too high and gold is at historic lows. The FOMC has nowhere to go with interest rates under these circumstances. As a result, there's nowhere to invest your money except in stocks. Of course, the growth story is technology and the Net.

And you're right. The Street invariably gets caught napping. Presumably, that's why we're here...
