... just click on someone's name in a post (which will take you to their profile), and then choose the "send a private message" option. You can check your own private messages by going to "messages" when you log on to Silicon Investor.

click on the user that you want to pm ... at top right it says "send a private message"

i just sent you one.

Click on their name and you will see it in the upper right hand corner
unless the person has the feature turned off.

Receipt of private message is optional. Some people are willing to receive them, others not. To send a private message,

1) click on the person's name, handle, whatever, to bring up that person's profile

2a) if that person's profile shows a box entitled something like send private message, click on that, and you can then compose and send your message
2b) if that person's profile does not indicate willingness to receive private messages, you're out of luck.
