The vast majority...One can speak with some authority about such things if one is familiar with the sources. If I told you that the original Buddhists conceived of Nirvana as the extinction of the self, but that gradually it was conceived by most Buddhists in positive terms, as a state of bliss, I would be speaking with some authority based on a pretty extensive reading of Buddhist texts and scholarship on Buddhism. I would not, however, say "we" because I do not identify with it...
