Resulting evidence of MSFT's monopolistic OS abuse is shown in 1999

AAPL at 5% market share would like to grow.

AAPL has the only viable alternative desktop OS to MSFT's Windows which has most of the remaining 95% .

So in the American way of encouraging innovation and competition Moody's warns AAPL to not compete with MSFT :

----
" At the same time, any marked departure from the fabled Mac OS would be scrutinized closely and risk acceptance, not only by the broader personal computer market, but also by the ardent loyalists who have supported the existing operating system.

Apple Computer, Inc., headquartered in Cupertino, California, is engaged in the design, manufacture, distribution, and support of personal computers incorporating Apple's Macintosh operating system. "

As Windows' sole distributor , MSFT's abusive actions (arbitrary pricing) may have annoyed a financially strong IBM , but it also locked out weaker competition then (1995) and for the future (1999) .

I don't normally take Microsoft's side in such things, but might not some of the difference be because much of 1995's royalties were for (aging) Win 3.1, and 1996's were for (new) Win95?

I don't know -- just speculating.
