Unsurprising. From what I gather, many (or all) of the NSAIDs interact with warfarin. The question is then whether COX-2s are safer than alternative NSAIDs in this respect -- unless there is some odd, unexpected paradoxical reaction. Although this might take some time to establish, from what I know about the mode of action of the COX-2s, it seems they might be LESS likely to interact with warfarin. This isn't just random talk; Anthony will recall the subject of platelets was discussed here and elsewhere many months ago, begun by a study he and I dug into, long before any of this was in the news.

The bottom line seems to be patients on warfarin have few options when it comes to treatment of pain, without some risk. Also, 30 reports out of millions of prescriptions does not seem like a large number...and there were no deaths.
