El,
You were the one who said by the time the spun off AV it wouldn't be worth much and it looks like you were right. With Y2K coming Compaq might as well wait until after the first of the year and hope for the best. Even then, I can smell the lawsuits coming...after all Compaq sold me a non-Y2K compliant computer...they will be sued for something.

Jim

El <<"all this silence mean that NOTHING is going on at CPQ">>
That sounds about right to me! It seemed like they were going to go great guns in the beginning but there sure are different indications now. Unless they are better at keeping secretes the EP not much can be going on. A wonder we did not drop farther. 22 on the horizon.. thought about buying there but now believe it may go lower yet. Holding more for the long term (forced by price)than I like,, now need some trading shares in case it really does go up. That would help offset my loss on the shares held and allow me to bail sooner...

Elwood <<Seems like we hear less from headquarters>>.
I don't worry about the lack of much PR from Rosen & Co. EP and Co. were always trying to make good publicity and make it look like everything was going great at CPQ, even while the ship was sinking.

On the other hand, Rosen & Co. seem to not make much noise. But from what I hear lots of good things are happening in plugging the leaks in the ship and getting back on course. The source of my information is from posts on SI from people that have lower to middle CPQ employee contacts. That type of information is much better that corporate PR.

Speaking of EP and his publicity. Did you notice that six months before EP was sacked and all the problems showed up, that EP was constantly making publicity trips to Europe and NYC. We do not get that kind of thing from Rosen. I like that. EP was supposed to be running the company and based on present knowledge did not delegate effectively as CPQ got big and complex (eg. after DEC acquisition).

I am glad to see Rosen manage more quietly than EP. That is one reason why I have not sold any of my CPQ.
