IBM drops Rambus support (good). Proprietary evil a no-no.

"The IBM decision, which followed delays
in chipset support from Intel Corp. for Rambus-based systems, deals a stunning blow to
the already-cloudy future of Rambus' technology. Other PC OEMs that have been
sitting on the fence may use the IBM move as justification for abandoning Rambus, at
least for their next generation of desktops"

"The decision could prompt Intel and other chipset makers to increase their
support for industry standard synchronous memory solutions"
