The guy who mentioned it is a Stanford professor and developed ADSL/DMT and founded Amati, now part of TI, so I trust he's not making it up. There's one company called Gigabit Wireless Inc, but I can't seem to load their website. Accel did the first round of financing. I suspect you're right about timing. Probably not in my lifetime. :)
