They just want to get thru that surface stuff as quick as possible. They grind it all up in the process and it ends up in a messy pile. Plus they move so fast they don't have time for screwing around on a lark. Drilling for oil and gas is BIG money. It is pretty easy to spend several million bucks drilling one simple hole. JP
