I probably will never get a penny from the bankruptcy courts.

I know you are kidding, but do you have any idea how much money Clinton will pull in the next 10 years? His legal bills will be paid with "pin money"!

It's time for Irwin Jacobs [not the greenmail takeover one] to declare his candidacy for the Democratic Party to stand him as their contestant in the Presidential Election.

He has done a great job for Qualcomm, for technology, for the world, for physics [he even managed to breach the laws of physics with CDMA], for international business, for international economics, for USA profits and business position, for international relations [providing technological means of economic worldwide communication = Globalstar]. He can even tame the likes of L M Ericsson, converting a swarm of hagfish into useful contributors to the world of CDMA through persistent, persuasive and successful negotiations, while never getting overheated [in public anyway] despite vile attacks on his personal standards. He'll have no trouble with Zhu Ronji, Yeltsin's replacement, Tony Blair, or whoever gets the job of tidying the disaster in Yugoslavia. He'll be able to work with Gorby in the reformation and improvement of the United Nations, for which Gorby would be a good President.

Irwin and Joan have donated $15m to the Engineering School in San Diego which is a better effort than a failed Whitewater investment for personal gain [the Clinton's achievement]. He has high moral standards and is suitable as a leader to help take the USA out of some fairly unpleasant ways of life. Parents would be able to point to their National Leader and say to their children, "Now THERE is somebody to try to emulate."

He is a tough negotiator, has the right values. He'd be great. He's good natured, super bright, has a wide, eclectic understanding of the ways of the world.

He has just about done his dash with getting Qualcomm to a full-blown creator of 21st Century communications. He has just got to get Eudora upgraded to the encrypted total communications package including EudoraCoin [TM], then he could head off to The White House with Joan, leaving the gang to run the shop. Globalstar, WirelessKnowledge, cdmaOne, cdma2000, Wireless Business Solutions, ASICs, Handsets are all pretty much self-perpetuating.

Al Gore would be a good emergency stand-in who would also be able to give good advice on the mechanics of Presidential protocol though I suppose there are plenty of hangers-on who are paid to do that.

Think of Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Raygun, Bush, Clinton.

Would Irwin Jacobs fit into that list? I'd say he'd be at the top of the list. People would moan that he lacks charisma. Surely, after Clinton, people have had enough of charisma.

We all [now] know about Kennedy and the false facade of Camelot. Johnson hoisted beagles by their ears, thinking it's good for them, while carpet bombing Vietnamese civilians, Nixon took the bombing to Cambodia and wasn't the nicest of guys, Ford sometimes didn't trip up, Carter was a very nice religious guy whose daughter was helpful in running the show, but it was the day Raygun, who had a very simplistic approach to everything, took over that the Iranians gulped and immediately handed over the hostages and ran up the most stupendous deficit in human history, Bush ran the CIA for a while [the crowd whose legacy arranged the bombing of the Chinese embassy] and was good for taxation by lip-reading but at least he really sorted out Saddam but good, which brings us to Clinton who has enjoyed The New Paradigm, which has made him look as though he can manage the economy though he had nothing to do with it - he was too busy with Monica, and Gennifer and this one and that while visiting his sidekicks in jail and staying out of it himself.

Even GG seems to approve of Irwin Jacobs and GG is a rabid Republican, so Irwin should get wide support. [Actually, I'm being very presumptuous, because for all I know, Irwin Jacobs is a Republican supporter].

Ramsey, ask a few of the local yokels around your way what they think. I bet they'd figure Irwin would be really good.

Irwin has to be genuinely for free trade though. It would be a shame to see the Clinton hypocrisy where he chastises China while pandering to whining USA farmers and steel makers.

PS: Even from a selfish, rose-coloured wallet point of view, Qualcomm would do better from his services in promoting international harmony, business flows and trade from a bigger platform than the Q! Chairmanship. Imagine if China, Taiwan, USA, Yugoslavia, Russia, India, Pakistan and the others put their efforts into useful things like cdma2000 and Globalstar than figuring out ways to shoot each other. Imagine if Al Gore gets in and starts haranguing China about their CO2 emissions as well as their human rights and starts a war over CO2. Irwin would be able to understand that CO2 is good.
