"Democracies will always be at a disadvantage to authoritarian states since we have to discuss what we're going to do and get the support of all the people, not just the various elite factions."

That is an extremely simplistic and erroneous view of US policies in the last few decades. This was somewhat true before the rise of the Jewish-Zionist control of the news media and Hollywood.
Public opinion is now shaped by the media czars who twist every historical and social development to fit their own agenda.

Public opinion is shaped by the disinformation that is produced in the mainstream media, not by the legitimate opinions of Americans based on a solid knowledge of the situations. Again, all historical and social events are sculptured to fit the needs of the media masters before they reach the ears of the public.

The disinformation about Kosovo illustrates my point perfectly. The wide dissemination of news on the Internet has added a new and unpredictable variable to this equation, but the media masters still control 95% of the information reaching the public.

I think, in the long run, democracies have a decided advantage, partly because of the need to get public support. Look at the authoritarian states we've had conflicts with this century.

I tend to agree with Emile here----- It's called " Manufacturing Consent" ..... You cannot deny that this goes on--- In fact, I find it so blatant and hypocritical that it disturbs me....
